An Oshawa missing man has been found safe after Durham Regional Police asked the public to help locate the vulnerable 63-year-old on Saturday.
Police said in a Sunday morning update that Michael had been located safe and sound. The update brings the public appeal to a close less than a day after he was reported missing.
Michael was last seen at about 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, near Coldstream Drive and Ormond Drive in north Oshawa. Police had also identified the area around Ritson Road North and Taunton Road East as a possible location during the search.
The Durham Regional Police Service thanked members of the public who helped circulate the appeal. Police also asked people who shared Michael’s photograph to remove it now that he has been found, helping protect his privacy after the search ended safely.
Safe outcome ends Oshawa search
The confirmation is a major update to the missing-person appeal issued Saturday afternoon. No additional details about where Michael was located or the circumstances of his return were released, and there is no indication that police are seeking further public assistance in this case.
The original appeal described Michael as vulnerable, which prompted a time-sensitive community search. Local residents and news outlets shared the police notice through Saturday evening and Sunday morning before the safe-location update was posted.
When a missing person is found, police routinely ask the public to stop sharing identifying images and outdated search information. Removing old posts helps prevent a resolved appeal from continuing to circulate and keeps attention on active cases.
