A suspect is wanted in a Durham vehicle fraud investigation after police alleged that false documents were used to finance three vehicles that were later exported from Canada.
CityNews reported that the transactions occurred at several dealerships across Durham Region between August 1, 2023 and April 30, 2024. Investigators allege the vehicles were obtained with false information and documents, no payments were made, and the suspect later left Canada.
Three vehicles exported from Canada
All three vehicles were subsequently exported, according to the police information cited in the report. The specific dealerships and vehicle models were not identified.
Police identified the wanted man as Borislav Ninchov, 34, of Toronto. He is wanted for fraud over $5,000, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime for the purpose of trafficking, and three counts of disposing of property to avoid creditors.
The allegations have not been proven in court.
Police link case to wider pattern
Investigators believe the suspect is associated with a larger group involved in what police describe as “criminal tourism.” The term refers to offenders who enter Canada legally as visitors with the alleged intention of committing crimes before leaving the country or overstaying a visa.
Durham police have previously warned that organized groups can move between regions, use false identities and exploit gaps in financing or identification systems. Alleged activity can include fraud, theft, identity crime, property offences and financial scams.
This case involves a different suspect and three separate vehicles from earlier Durham vehicle-fraud investigations reported in 2026.
