Brooklin Community Centre maintenance will affect daytime access to parts of the facility on September 8, 9 and 11, although the adjoining library will remain open.

The Town of Whitby says the annual work is scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Residents with pre-arranged programs will be notified if their activities change, while regular evening facility rentals are expected to continue.

The community centre will reopen on Thursday, September 10, for the 55+ Active Living Fair. The gym, 55+ room, multipurpose room, upstairs craft rooms and meeting rooms will be available for the fair.

Library and selected programs remain available

Brooklin Library will stay open during the maintenance period. Visitors are asked to follow all service-disruption signs inside the building, particularly where maintenance may temporarily change normal access routes.

Several scheduled evening activities will also proceed. Nisar Ball Hockey is listed in the gym from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on September 8. On September 9, an Optimist Club meeting is scheduled in the Optimist Room from 6 to 7:30 p.m., while a fitness class is planned in the multipurpose room from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

A further fitness class is scheduled in the multipurpose room from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on September 10.

Full program access expected Saturday

The town expects all community-centre areas to reopen for registered programs on Saturday, September 12. The announcement does not identify any closure extending beyond that date.

Because the maintenance affects different services on different days, visitors should confirm the status of their specific room, rental or activity rather than assuming the entire building is unavailable. Anyone whose program is changed should receive a notification from the town.

Questions about Brooklin Community Centre maintenance can be directed to the Town of Whitby’s facilities department. Residents should also watch for posted signs and any updated municipal notice if the work schedule changes.
