A Pickering complex closure will affect one change room, several parking spaces and the squash courts while a rooftop heating and cooling unit is replaced.
The older Family Change Room at the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex will be unavailable from Tuesday, September 8 through Saturday, September 12, according to the City of Pickering. The main Universal Change Room will remain open and fully accessible during the work.
The project includes a crane lift on Wednesday, September 9, when the existing rooftop HVAC unit is scheduled to be removed and its replacement installed.
Parking and squash-court access affected
Designated parking spaces inside the marked construction area will be closed from 7 a.m. to noon on September 9. The city says the squash courts will also close during the crane operation, which is scheduled from 7 to 8 a.m.
Other patrons should follow posted signs and stay outside the temporary work zone. The restrictions are intended to give the contractor room to operate the crane and keep visitors safely separated from the lift.
The announcement does not indicate a full shutdown of the recreation complex. The main Universal Change Room remains available throughout the five-day Family Change Room closure, and the parking and squash-court restrictions are limited to the stated times on September 9.
Visitors should plan before arriving
People with programs or bookings at the complex should allow extra time to park on Wednesday morning and use the available change-room facilities. Anyone whose visit depends on squash-court access should confirm the facility’s operating status before travelling, particularly if weather or construction conditions alter the lift schedule.
