Police have not publicly released the rider’s name.

Oshawa Motorcycle Crash Remains Under Investigation

OPP described the incident as a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.

No information has been released about what caused the rider to leave the roadway or crash. Police have also not said whether weather, road conditions, speed or a mechanical problem may have contributed.

There is currently no indication that another vehicle was directly involved in the collision. Investigators have not announced any charges.

A section of Northeys Bay Road was closed in both directions for several hours while police investigated and documented the collision scene. The road has since reopened.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team assisted with the investigation.

Collision Happened Near Upper Stony Lake

Northeys Bay Road runs through North Kawartha Township in northern Peterborough County.

The collision occurred near Fire Route 19, along the north side of Upper Stony Lake. Emergency responders were called to the area late Saturday afternoon.

Police have not released information about where the Oshawa motorcyclist was travelling from or where the rider was headed at the time of the crash.

No other injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

The death adds to the number of serious motorcycle collisions investigated across Ontario during the summer travel season. However, police have not released enough information to determine what factors were involved in this particular crash.

Police Seek Witnesses and Dashcam Video

Peterborough County OPP are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or travelled through the area around the time of the incident to contact investigators.

Police are particularly interested in obtaining dashcam footage that may show the motorcycle before the crash or conditions on Northeys Bay Road.

Anyone with information can contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. The number operates across Ontario for non-emergency police calls.

People wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or 8477.

Drivers with video footage should preserve the original recording and note the approximate time and location where it was captured. They should avoid editing or posting potentially relevant footage publicly before speaking with investigators.

Police have not announced when the investigation will be completed or whether additional information about the deceased rider will be released.

The fatal Oshawa motorcycle crash remains under investigation. Anyone who travelled on Northeys Bay Road near Fire Route 19 around 4:45 p.m. on July 25 is asked to contact Peterborough County OPP.
