Residents in Clarington looking to explore creative crafts and handmade wellness projects will have an opportunity to learn traditional felting techniques during an upcoming Soap Felting Workshop later this month.
The hands-on workshop is scheduled for May 24, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Clarington.
Hosted by Roving Workshop, the event will introduce participants to both wet and dry needle felting methods while creating handcrafted felted soap bars.
According to organizers, attendees participating in the Soap Felting Workshop will learn how to felt two bars of soap during the class while gaining practical experience using felting materials and techniques.
Felting soap has become increasingly popular within crafting and wellness communities because the wool wrapping around the soap can help extend the lifespan of the bar while also acting as a natural exfoliating surface during use.
Workshop organizers say the activity combines creativity, practical crafting skills, and self-care products into a single interactive experience suitable for beginners and experienced crafters alike.
The Soap Felting Workshop is part of a growing number of arts and craft events being hosted throughout Durham Region as interest in handmade products, fiber arts, and DIY workshops continues increasing across Ontario communities.
Craft-focused workshops have become popular community activities by offering residents opportunities to learn new artistic skills while supporting local makers and small creative businesses.
Needle felting itself is a textile art process that uses wool fibres and specialized needles to create decorative or functional handmade items. The process can be used for sculptures, accessories, ornaments, home décor pieces, and soap felting projects like those featured in the workshop.
Organizers say no advanced experience is required to participate in the Soap Felting Workshop, making it accessible to individuals interested in trying a new craft for the first time.
Interactive arts programming continues expanding throughout Clarington and Durham Region as municipalities and independent creators offer more opportunities for community-based workshops and creative learning events.
The workshop also reflects the growing popularity of sustainable and handmade wellness products, particularly among consumers interested in reusable, artisanal, and environmentally conscious personal care items.
The registration fee for the Soap Felting Workshop is listed at $50.
Visual arts and crafting events remain an important part of Durham Region’s local arts scene by encouraging creativity, social engagement, and support for small independent arts programming.
Organizers encourage interested participants to register early due to limited workshop space and increasing demand for hands-on crafting experiences throughout the spring season.
