As residents prepare for the long weekend, the Region of Durham has issued an official advisory detailing significant program and service impacts for Victoria Day (Monday, May 18, 2026). While most administrative and health facilities will pause operations to observe the holiday, the Region has confirmed that essential outreach services for vulnerable populations will remain accessible.
Facility and Program Closures
On Monday, May 18, the following regional facilities and programs will be closed:

Administrative Hubs: Durham Regional Headquarters (Whitby), Provincial Offences Courts, and all Regional front counters.

Social Services: All Ontario Works offices (Ajax, Oshawa, Uxbridge), Directly Operated Child Care Centres, and Family Services Durham locations.

Health Services: All immunization, breastfeeding, and sexual health clinics will be unavailable.

Adult Day Programs: Services at Hillsdale Estates (Oshawa) and Lakeview Manor (Beaverton) will be suspended for the day.
Water Sample Collection Disruptions
Residents relying on private well water testing should note a specific disruption. Water sample drop-off and pick-up services will be unavailable on both Friday, May 15, and Monday, May 18 at the following locations:

Durham Regional Transit (DRT) Schedule
Transit riders should plan for Weekend Service levels on the holiday Monday:

On-Demand Services: The Specialized Services Call Centre will remain open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Customer Support: The general Customer Service Call Centre and the Westney Road South desk in Ajax will be closed.

Online Tools: Riders are encouraged to use the DRT website or mobile apps for real-time scheduling.
