The Glenanna Road closure in Pickering has been extended through Monday, November 2, changing the expected reopening date for a section near The Esplanade South.
An October 22 notice from the City of Pickering confirms that both the road and west sidewalk remain closed from Pickering Parkway to the south limit of The Esplanade South. The closure began Tuesday, October 13.
The work allows installation of the Region of Durham’s sanitary sewer and watermain. Pickering says vehicle and pedestrian detours have been provided and applicable signs will be posted.
This is a material extension of the previously announced October 26 end date, not a new closure at a different location. The revised notice adds another week to the published municipal timetable. People who planned to resume using the road or west sidewalk next Monday should instead plan around the continued work.
The City’s extension notice applies to the road and sidewalk. It does not provide a revised route-by-route transit timetable, so riders should check Durham Region Transit’s current notices separately rather than assume every earlier bus arrangement has an identical end date.
Drivers and pedestrians should follow the marked detours around the Glenanna Road closure. For questions about the work, the City directs residents to its Engineering Services Department or the service disruption line at 1-866-278-9993.
