A Durham College tuition credit worth $5,000 has gone to Hunter Bennett, a first-year Sport Management student who entered the college’s annual contest at its Fall Open House in 2025.
The college announced the award on October 16. Bennett is now studying toward a career in sports marketing, bringing an interest in baseball and the Toronto Blue Jays to his choice of program.
From open-house visit to first-year studies
According to Durham College, Bennett considered several post-secondary institutions before narrowing his options to two programs at the college. He ultimately chose Sport Management because it aligned with the type of work he hopes to pursue after graduation.
His contest entry came during the previous year’s open house, before he began his first year. The Durham College tuition credit adds financial support as he starts that program.
The announcement identifies the award as a tuition credit. It does not describe a cash payment or say that it covers the full cost of Bennett’s education.
How the annual contest works
The college says its annual contest is available to applicants who attend eligible recruitment events, including open houses and program information nights, or register to receive its program and event communications.
College president Elaine Popp welcomed Bennett’s decision to study at DC and linked the open-house experience with helping prospective students consider their future studies.
