Residents with an interest in agriculture, rural development, and farming issues are invited to attend the upcoming Durham Agricultural Advisory Committee (DAAC) Meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Regional Headquarters in Whitby.
The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Regional Headquarters Building, 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby.
The Durham Agricultural Advisory Committee serves as an important advisory body that provides recommendations and advice to Durham Regional Council on matters affecting the agricultural community. The committee supports policies and initiatives that promote a strong, sustainable, and competitive agricultural sector throughout Durham Region.
Agriculture remains one of Durham Region’s most significant industries, with hundreds of farms producing a wide range of crops, livestock, and agricultural products. The committee plays an important role in helping ensure that farming interests are considered during regional planning, infrastructure projects, environmental initiatives, and economic development discussions.
During committee meetings, members may discuss a variety of topics related to agriculture, including land use planning, environmental stewardship, rural infrastructure, government policy updates, and programs that support local farmers and agribusinesses.
The meetings also provide an opportunity for committee members to review ongoing agricultural initiatives, receive updates from Regional staff, and consider recommendations that may be forwarded to Regional Council for further consideration.
Residents, farmers, agricultural organizations, and others with an interest in rural issues are encouraged to stay informed about the committee’s work. Public meetings help promote transparency while providing insight into decisions that affect Durham Region’s agricultural sector.
The meeting will take place in the Council Chambers at Durham Region’s headquarters, located at 605 Rossland Road East in Whitby, making it accessible for residents from communities across the region.
Those interested in attending are encouraged to monitor the Region of Durham’s official website for meeting agendas, reports, and any updates regarding the September 15 session.
The Durham Agricultural Advisory Committee continues to support the Region’s commitment to protecting farmland, strengthening the local food system, and promoting the long-term sustainability of agriculture across Durham Region.
