A Bowmanville firearm investigation has resulted in the arrest of a 28-year-old man following a search by Durham Regional Police.
On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, members of the Durham Regional Police Service Gun and Gang Unit executed a search warrant at a residence near Green Road and Baseline Road in Bowmanville. During the search, officers seized a loaded handgun, three prohibited overcapacity magazines, ammunition, and controlled substances.
Police identified the accused as Nicholas Alexander Riley, 28, of Bowmanville. He faces multiple charges, including possession of a loaded restricted or prohibited firearm, possession of prohibited devices, possession of Schedule I substances for the purpose of trafficking, and multiple counts of failing to comply with probation and release orders.
Investigators said the accused was already bound by court-imposed conditions at the time of his arrest. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
