A 25-year-old Pickering Man Arrested multiple charges after a tip-off led to his arrest at a local McDonald’s restaurant, where police discovered a firearm and a significant amount of fentanyl in his possession. The incident occurred on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at around 7 p.m. at the McDonald’s located on Kingston Road, in the southern part of Pickering.

The Durham Regional Police were alerted to the presence of a man allegedly carrying a gun inside the restaurant. Officers responded swiftly to the scene and took the individual into custody. Upon conducting a search of the suspect, they discovered not only a firearm but also 180 grams of fentanyl, a significant amount of the potent opioid often linked to illegal drug trafficking. In addition to the fentanyl, police found drug paraphernalia, scales, and cell phones, which further indicated the suspect’s involvement in drug trafficking.

The man was identified as Jayden James Vince-Anthony, a resident of Pickering. Vince-Anthony had recently been released on bail for similar offenses and was bound by firearms prohibition conditions at the time of his arrest. The discovery of the gun and drugs led to immediate charges against him, including possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking and breach of probation.

The arrest comes at a time when police are increasingly focusing on the rise of fentanyl and its role in the ongoing opioid crisis. The fentanyl seizure alone highlights the seriousness of the charges, as 180 grams of fentanyl is considered a large quantity, with the potential to impact many individuals in the community. The drug is notorious for its potency and the risk it poses to users, with even small amounts capable of causing fatal overdoses.

Vince-Anthony was arrested and held for a bail hearing. He now faces not only drug trafficking charges but also a violation of his probation conditions, having been under supervision following a previous arrest.

The public is encouraged to come forward with any additional information regarding the incident or Vince-Anthony’s activities. Cst. Fahel of the West Division is leading the investigation and can be contacted at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2492. Durham Regional Crime Stoppers is also offering an opportunity for anonymous tips via their website or at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), with a cash reward potentially available for useful information.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about illegal firearms and the spread of fentanyl in Durham Region, and it serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with both substances. The community remains vigilant in addressing these issues, with law enforcement working tirelessly to combat drug trafficking and illegal firearms possession.
