Southern Ontario weather is experiencing a major weather shift after a prolonged deep freeze, with frigid temperatures and wind chills. The cold warnings that have gripped the region are easing up, bringing some relief.
According to Environment Canada, the Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton, and Niagara will see temperatures around the freezing mark for Tuesday and Wednesday. The Windsor area is forecasted to reach 4°C on Tuesday and -1°C on Wednesday.
Eastern Ontario, however, will remain colder, with Ottawa reaching highs of -8°C on Tuesday and -4°C on Wednesday.
For the rest of the week, milder temperatures are expected. On Thursday, Toronto, Halton, and Peel regions are forecasted to experience highs of -2°C, while York and Durham will reach -3°C. Hamilton, Niagara, and Windsor will see temperatures of -1°C, and Ottawa will stay colder at -4°C.
As Friday arrives, the temperature will rise slightly to -1°C or 0°C across the Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton, and Niagara. Windsor will have a high of 2°C, and Ottawa will remain chilly at -7°C.
Importantly, no significant snow is expected, offering a brief respite from the winter weather. The normal high for Toronto at this time of year is typically -1°C with a low of -9°C.
