U.S. authorities say dozens of luxury motorcycles seized during recent raids in Mexico are believed to belong to fugitive former Canadian Olympian Ryan Wedding and are worth an estimated US$40 million.
The FBI said the motorcycles were among high-value items recovered during coordinated raids in Mexico City and the surrounding State of Mexico, carried out by multiple Mexican and U.S. law enforcement agencies.
Mexican security officials confirmed four residences linked to the investigation were searched. Along with the motorcycles, police seized two vehicles, valuable artwork and items believed to be Olympic medals.
Wedding represented Canada in snowboarding at the 2002 Winter Olympics and is now accused of leading an international drug trafficking network. He was added to the FBI’s Most Wanted Fugitives list earlier this year and is believed to be hiding in Mexico.
The investigation remains active as authorities continue efforts to locate and arrest Wedding.
