Drivers across Ontario will see several changes to Highway 407 ETR starting in 2026, including higher toll rates, increased fees, and new customer programs beginning January 1.

According to Highway 407 ETR, toll rates will continue to be highest during morning and afternoon rush hours. While areas with lighter traffic will remain unchanged, some central sections approaching congestion will see increases of up to 34 cents per kilometre for light vehicles. Certain off-peak periods will also be adjusted, extending higher-rate travel times.

Most personal transponder users are expected to see an average monthly increase of about $5, depending on how often and when they use the highway. The annual transponder lease fee will rise from $29.50 to $31.50 plus tax.

New toll rates and fees will also apply to motorcycles, medium vehicles, heavy single-unit vehicles, and heavy multi-unit vehicles.

In addition to pricing changes, Highway 407 ETR announced plans to introduce a loyalty points program in 2026. The program will allow customers to earn points and redeem them for free travel, managed through the 407 ETR mobile app. A launch date has not yet been confirmed.

The highway will also continue offering driving promotions in 2026. Officials say more than $200 million in driving offers were distributed in 2025, saving participating drivers an average of $45 per month.

Support for low-income drivers is also expanding. Beginning January 1, the Route Relief Program will provide eligible Ontario residents with up to eight free trips per month, an increase from six. Since launching in November 2024, the program has provided more than $1 million in free travel to over 2,800 drivers.
