A Newcastle condo tender is open for five units at 21 Brookhouse Drive, with sealed bids due to Clarington by 3 p.m. November 4.
File 25-01 covers units 40 and 93. The listed assessed value is $16,000 and the minimum tender is $11,105.55. File 25-02 covers units 154, 163 and 174, with a listed assessed value of $3,000 and a minimum tender of $9,869.56.
The condominium declaration restricts ownership to a person or entity that already owns a residential unit in the corporation. Bidders are responsible for confirming eligibility and are advised to obtain independent legal advice.
Each tender must use the prescribed form and include a deposit of at least 20 per cent, paid by certified cheque, bank draft or money order. A successful bidder must also pay accumulated taxes and any applicable land transfer tax or HST.
Tenders go to the Municipal Administration Centre at 40 Temperance Street in Bowmanville. They will be opened publicly there as soon as possible after the deadline. Clarington warns that assessed values may not reflect market value and that it is not required to provide vacant possession.
