A full Scarborough-Pickering Townline closure is scheduled to begin Monday, September 28 for road reconstruction between Finch Avenue and the Canadian Pacific rail corridor.
Pickering says the closure is expected to remain in place until December. The affected section runs from Finch Avenue to the south limit of the CP rail tracks.
Full closure required for construction
City contractor Melrose Paving will reconstruct the road under quotation Q2026-30. Pickering’s notice says a full closure is required to complete the work safely.
Detour signs will be installed to direct traffic around the construction area. Drivers who normally use the townline should allow additional travel time and follow posted routes rather than entering the closed segment.
The road forms the boundary between Toronto and Pickering in the city’s west end. The closure may affect local trips toward Finch Avenue and connections near the rail corridor, but the city notice does not identify changes to transit routes or provide a precise reopening day.
End date remains approximate
The city’s map describes the construction limits and identifies the project as Scarborough Pickering Townline road reconstruction. The public notice gives December as the expected end period, meaning the schedule could change with construction progress, weather or site conditions.
