Brock Road lane restrictions will return to north Pickering on September 21 for construction connected to a new development, according to the Region of Durham.
The affected section runs from about 120 metres north of Williams Jackson Drive and Dersan Street to about 230 metres south of Rex Heath Drive and Zents Drive. Restrictions are scheduled through October 30.
New phase follows earlier work
The same stretch was restricted during a previous construction phase in May. The new six-week window creates a fresh traffic impact for residents, commuters and businesses in Duffin Heights and Seaton.
Durham Radio News reported that the work supports a new development. Poor weather may affect the schedule and extend the restriction period.
Brock Road is a major north-south route connecting neighbourhoods south of Highway 401 with Highway 407, Seaton and rural areas. Drivers should expect slower traffic, especially during weekday peaks.
Drivers should plan for changing lanes
Motorists should follow temporary signs, reduce speed and leave room for workers. People travelling near Williams Jackson Drive, Dersan Street, Rex Heath Drive and Zents Drive should allow extra time.
The notice describes lane restrictions rather than a full closure, but the configuration may change as work progresses. Drivers should check Durham traffic information and consider alternate routes during delays.
The project is separate from Highway 401 ramp work near Brock Road and the Morden Lane closure elsewhere in Pickering.
