The DCDSB November update sets out new dates and opportunities for Durham Catholic families, including a virtual parenting session, Grade 1 French Immersion registration and a student short-video contest.
The Durham Catholic District School Board published its monthly bulletin on November 6, 2026. Several school achievements and previously announced programmes are also included; the following notices focus on upcoming family actions and dates.
Positive-parenting sessions November 18
DCDSB and Durham Community Health Centre are hosting a virtual parent and guardian engagement session on Wednesday, November 18. Families can choose either 1 to 2 p.m. or 7 to 8 p.m.
The sessions will cover positive-parenting principles and strategies to support children’s development, with time for questions and discussion. Registration remains open until November 17. The bulletin directs families to email childcare@dcdsb.ca or kvarlow@durhamchc.ca; a virtual meeting link will be provided after registration.
French Immersion intake opens November 20
Families of students currently in Year 2 Kindergarten, also known as Senior Kindergarten, can register for Grade 1 French Immersion for the 2027–28 school year from November 20, 2026, to January 15, 2027.
A virtual information night is scheduled for Thursday, November 19, from 7 to 8 p.m. Families should follow the programme and flyer links in the official bulletin for the board’s registration information.
Student video contest
The Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association is inviting students in Grades 4 to 12 to make a two-minute video around the 2026–27 Catholic education theme, Becoming Artisans of Peace.
The DCDSB November update says completed submissions must be uploaded to YouTube by November 26. Students and families can follow the official contest-guideline link before preparing an entry.
Bullying prevention and school dates
The board will recognize Bullying Prevention and Intervention Week from November 16 to 20. Its bulletin encourages families concerned about bullying or harassment to raise those concerns with their child’s school and points to a resource about positive relationships and managing peer conflict.
Other upcoming dates include elementary progress reports on November 9, a November 13 elementary and secondary PA day, and secondary midterm reports on November 13.
The bulletin also repeats the November 20 digital Christmas-card contest deadline and November 26 Regional Arts and Media Program application deadline. Those programmes have already been covered in earlier All About Durham reporting; the new bulletin does not announce a changed deadline.
