Baldwin Street South in Whitby will be fully closed overnight Friday while crews complete paving and line painting.
The Whitby Baldwin Street closure is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Friday, September 18. The road is expected to reopen at 8 a.m. Saturday, September 19.
Closure limits
The affected section runs from Spencers Road to a point just south of the Highway 407 eastbound off-ramp. Through traffic will not be able to use that stretch while the work is underway.
Crews are completing surface paving and line painting connected with new development in the area. Drivers should follow posted detour signs, allow extra travel time and reduce speed around workers and equipment.
Access and traffic patterns near the work zone may change during the night. Motorists approaching Highway 407 should pay close attention to temporary signs rather than relying only on navigation apps, which may not immediately reflect the closure.
Weather could change the schedule
The work is weather-dependent. Rain or other unsuitable conditions could delay paving or line painting and change the reopening time.
Drivers travelling through north Whitby on Friday night or early Saturday should check current municipal and regional traffic notices before leaving. Emergency access arrangements and local access are managed at the work site.
The notice applies to the overnight construction window only. Baldwin Street South is expected to return to normal operation after 8 a.m. Saturday if the work proceeds as planned.
