Durham police are asking the public to help identify a man suspected of causing Beaverton cruiser damage outside the community arena.
The incident happened near the Beaverton Arena at 176 Main Street in Brock Township at approximately 11:21 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, according to the Durham Regional Police Service.
Windshield wipers damaged
Police allege that a male suspect approached a marked cruiser, urinated on the driver’s side door and damaged both windshield wipers before leaving the area.
No injury was reported in the police release. Investigators have not identified the suspect and have not announced an arrest or charges.
DRPS released a suspect image as part of its appeal. All allegations remain unproven, and the person shown has not been identified by police.
Witnesses and video sought
Investigators are asking anyone who was near the arena or Main Street around the time of the occurrence to review available recordings. Surveillance video, dash-camera footage and cellphone recordings may help police establish the suspect’s movements before and after the damage.
People with information are asked to contact Durham Regional Police through its main non-emergency number. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Durham Regional Crime Stoppers.
The public should provide possible identification information directly to investigators and avoid naming people on social media. Police had not released an estimated repair cost when the appeal was published.
