Good news for flower lovers across Durham Region: Pingle’s Tulip Days, the largest tulip festival in the Greater Toronto Area, has been extended through Friday due to continued peak bloom conditions at the Clarington farm.

The festival, hosted at Pingle’s Farm Market near the village of Hampton in eastern Clarington, was originally scheduled to wrap up earlier this week. However, favourable weather and an extended bloom period have prompted organizers to give visitors a few more days to experience the spectacular display of over one million tulip blooms spread across the sprawling rural property.

The extension means guests can still visit the fields daily through Friday, with gates open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Advance ticket purchases are recommended, as the festival has drawn large crowds throughout its run and weekend attendance has been particularly strong.

This year marks the second annual Tulip Days event under the management of the McKay family, who took over operations of the historic Pingle’s Farm in 2020. The family also operates Willowtree Farm and has invested significantly in expanding the tulip festival into a marquee spring attraction for Clarington and the broader Durham Region.

Visitors to the extended festival can expect the full complement of activities that have made Tulip Days a popular draw. Pick-your-own flower bouquets remain available, allowing guests to wander the rows and cut their own stems to take home. Photo prop stations are positioned throughout the fields, providing ideal backdrops for the kind of vibrant spring photography that has filled social media feeds across the region in recent weeks.

Live music performances continue during the extension, with local musicians providing a soundtrack to the colourful landscape. Farm-to-fork food and drink offerings are available on site, featuring seasonal treats and refreshments sourced from local producers. Wagon rides through the property give visitors a leisurely tour of the fields and surrounding farmland.

The festival features over thirty different tulip varieties this year, ranging from classic single blooms to dramatic double-flowered and parrot types. The colour palette spans deep purples and reds to bright yellows, oranges, pinks, and pristine whites, creating a visual tapestry that shifts as different varieties reach peak bloom at different times throughout the season.

Located at 1805 Taunton Road East in Hampton, Pingle’s Farm Market is easily accessible from across Durham Region and the GTA. The venue has ample parking on site, though visitors are encouraged to arrive early on weekends and during the extended dates to secure a spot.

The extension announcement has been welcomed by local tourism officials, who see the festival as an important driver of springtime visitors to Clarington. Area businesses, including restaurants and shops in nearby Bowmanville and Newcastle, have reported increased foot traffic during the festival’s run as visitors combine their tulip experience with stops at other local attractions.

For those who have already visited this year, the extension offers a chance to see later-blooming varieties that may not have been open during earlier visits. For first-time visitors, the extended dates provide one final opportunity to experience what has quickly become one of Durham Region’s most anticipated annual events.

The Pingle’s Market store remains open to all visitors without a festival ticket, offering baked goods, local produce, and farm products throughout the season.
