Canada’s Wonderland, Ontario’s renowned amusement park, will officially open for the season on Sunday May 3 with operating hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. However, as part of the Canada’s Wonderland 2026 updates, a few rides will not be ready for visitors on opening day due to ongoing maintenance and upgrades.

Among the affected attractions is the iconic Mighty Canadian Minebuster rollercoaster, one of the park’s three wooden rollercoasters. The Minebuster is undergoing a significant retracking program with 980 feet of track being replaced to enhance the ride’s durability and ensure a smoother experience for thrill-seekers. This work follows similar improvements made to the ride last year. The new track, supplied by The Gravity Group, features pressure-treated, vertically stacked laminated lumber for improved performance and increased longevity.

In addition to the Minebuster, Flight Deck, previously known as Top Gun, is being reimagined and will now be called The DareDeviler. The renamed rollercoaster will offer guests an exhilarating experience with an updated design, smoother ride, and a backstory tied to the dawn of aviation.

Another ride, Sledge Hammer, is also undergoing maintenance with new pumps being installed as part of infrastructure upgrades.

Due to these ongoing renovations, both the Minebuster and Sledge Hammer are expected to open by the end of May while the DareDeviler is scheduled for an opening in early summer, although no specific dates have been given.

Additionally, as part of the Canada’s Wonderland 2026 updates, the park is introducing a new chaperone policy for young visitors this season to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all guests. The Splash Works waterpark will open on May 23 adding to the seasonal excitement.

For those planning their visit to the park, it’s important to check for updates on the status of these attractions before making plans.
