A Pickering crime prevention information booth will give residents a place to speak with Durham Regional Police from November 2 to 6 at the Shops at Pickering City Centre.
Police confirmed the arrangements in an official November 2 announcement. The booth operates from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the mall, 1355 Kingston Road.
Where to find the booth
The booth is on the main level near the escalators to the food court. Police advise visitors to use Entrance 2 on the north side of the mall, then head south towards the escalators.
The local initiative supports Ontario’s Crime Prevention Week. Police describe the campaign as a shared effort involving residents, businesses, community organisations, government and law enforcement.
Five areas of focus
DRPS says its education priorities include cybercrime, with information intended to help people identify online threats and protect themselves from financial and emotional harm.
Retail crime and social disorder are also included, alongside efforts to promote safer public spaces and work with businesses and community partners.
The remaining priorities are hate crime and intimate partner violence. Police say the campaign will encourage awareness, reporting and prevention while supporting work to reduce harm.
Community information, not a new incident
The Pickering crime prevention booth is an educational community initiative, rather than an announcement of a particular criminal investigation.
DRPS credits its continuing partnership with the shopping centre for helping bring the annual event to the community. The official announcement and local report below provide the confirmed access information.
