Oshawa pumpkin collection is scheduled for the week of November 2 to 6, with the City asking residents to set pumpkins and gourds beside their green bin.

The direction appears in Oshawa’s current yard-waste guidance. A November 2 report from Durham Radio News also reminds residents across the region to check collection arrangements after Halloween.

Use the schedule for your address

Oshawa normally collects yard waste every other week on the same day as garbage, from mid-April until early December. Its page separately identifies November 2–6 for pumpkins and gourds and says they are collected on the first yard-waste day after Halloween.

Residents can confirm their address-specific schedule through the Durham Region Waste App or the City’s collection-schedule lookup tool. The City notes that higher autumn volumes can cause service delays.

Keep decorations out of the collection

Durham Radio News says pumpkins should be unpainted and have decorations removed. It notes that set-out arrangements can differ by municipality: some allow pumpkins directly at the curb, while others require a yard-waste bag.

Those regional differences should not replace Oshawa’s own instruction to place pumpkins and gourds beside the green bin during the identified week. Residents outside Oshawa should use their own municipal schedule rather than assume the same dates apply.

Other yard-waste reminders

Oshawa accepts leaves, garden trimmings and other listed yard materials in paper bags or clearly marked open-top containers weighing less than 20 kilograms. Plastic bags are not accepted.

The City also asks residents not to rake or blow leaves and yard waste onto the road, where material can block catch basins or create slippery conditions.

Backyard composting is another option for suitable organic material. Check the official guidance below for collection schedules and the full accepted-materials list.
