An Oshawa pool season extension will keep Rotary Pool and every city splash pad open until September 20, giving residents two more weeks to use the outdoor recreation facilities.
The City announced the change September 4 as the first summer at the rebuilt Rotary Park moved into its final weeks. Thousands of residents and visitors have used the park since it opened in July.
Free admission continues for Oshawa residents
Oshawa residents can continue to enter Rotary Pool free of charge by showing a Rotary Pool Season Pass or government-issued identification with an Oshawa address.
Non-residents must pay the applicable leisure-swimming admission fee. Swimmers should check the City’s leisure swim schedule before visiting because operating hours and programmed sessions can vary by day.
The extension also applies to all City of Oshawa splash pads, not only the splash pad at Rotary Park. Locations and hours are listed on the City’s splash-pad webpage.
Parking remains limited at Rotary Park
Parking at Rotary Park is limited. The City says additional off-site spaces are available at Durham Alternative Secondary School, 240 Simcoe Street South.
Through Labour Day on September 7, the school parking area is available daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. From September 8 through September 20, the off-site lot is available Monday to Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 6:30 p.m.
Visitors should follow posted parking rules and avoid blocking nearby driveways or emergency access.
Extended season follows July opening
The newly redeveloped Rotary Park opened in July after a major reconstruction project. Its outdoor facilities include the pool and splash pad, along with other park amenities.
The City said the extended schedule provides more opportunities to use the outdoor water facilities before they close for the year. Weather or operational conditions can still affect individual sessions, so residents should confirm the latest status before travelling.
