Oshawa animal adoptions passed a combined total of 100 during the city’s three National Adoption Weeks this year, the City of Oshawa announced Tuesday.
The result covers adoption events held in March, July and October through Oshawa Animal Services’ partnership with PetSmart Canada locations. The final adoption week of 2026 has now concluded, the city said in its October 27 social-media update.
The announcement reports the outcome of the year’s three events rather than another invitation to the October adoption week. All About Durham previously covered the October 19-to-25 programme, but that earlier notice did not contain the newly announced annual total.
The city thanked the Animal Services team and members of the public for helping animals find homes. It did not provide an exact number above 100, a species-by-species breakdown or a separate total for October.
People still considering adoption can use the Oshawa Animal Services link in the city’s Instagram profile to view currently available animals. The same update points readers to the animals’ donation wish list.
The Oshawa animal adoptions total was also reported by Daily Durham on October 27. The result should not be treated as a complete count of every adoption handled by the service in 2026: the city specifically attributed it to the three National Adoption Weeks.
