Durham highway closures are changing again as Ontario 511 lists new overnight work on Highway 401 in Oshawa and additional restrictions beginning October 16 in Scugog and Pickering.
The provincial roadwork listing, checked Thursday, October 15, includes different dates and lane arrangements for each location. Some entries describe nightly work over several days, not a continuous closure for the entire period.
Oshawa: Ritson to Harmony
On Highway 401 eastbound between Ritson Road and Harmony Road, two alternating lanes are scheduled to close nightly from October 15 at 8 p.m. until October 17 at 6 a.m.
The corresponding westbound work between Harmony and Ritson roads is listed from October 15 at 8 p.m. until October 17 at 5 a.m., also affecting two alternating lanes.
Separate entries list another round of work beginning October 19 at 8 p.m. Eastbound restrictions end October 20 at 6 a.m.; westbound restrictions end at 5 a.m.
Pickering: express lanes and Brock Road ramp
Ontario 511 lists all eastbound express lanes closed nightly between Whites Road and Brock Road from October 14 at 9 p.m. until October 17 at 7 a.m. This is an express-lane restriction, not a statement that every eastbound lane across the highway is closed.
A further eastbound express-lane closure on that section is scheduled from October 20 at 9 p.m. until October 24 at 7 a.m., nightly.
The westbound Highway 401 on-ramp at Brock Road is listed as closed nightly through October 19 at 5:30 a.m. A separate entry continues that ramp work from October 19 at 9 p.m. until October 24 at 5:30 a.m.
One right lane of the eastbound collector lanes between Whites and Brock roads is scheduled to close October 19 at 11 p.m. until October 20 at 6 a.m.
Scugog and Highway 7
One right lane in each direction on Highway 7/12 at Cragg Road in Scugog is scheduled to close nightly from October 16 at 6:30 p.m. until October 24 at 6:30 a.m.
Highway 7 westbound between North Road and Pickering Sideline 34 has a nightly right-lane restriction with the same October 16 evening start and October 24 morning end.
Clarington and the Oshawa–Whitby boundary
Daily Highway 401 westbound work between Highway 35/115 and Liberty Street in Clarington is scheduled from October 19 at 9 a.m. until October 22 at 3 p.m., affecting one alternating lane.
Ontario 511 also lists a nightly engineering investigation on the westbound collector lanes between Stevenson Road in Oshawa and Thickson Road in Whitby. One left lane is affected from October 20 at 10 p.m. until October 23 at 5 a.m.
Drivers should check the live provincial listing before travelling. Work windows and lane arrangements may change, and posted signs govern access at each site.
