Durham Gas Prices Set to Rise Three Cents Saturday

Drivers across southern Durham Region may want to check local pumps before Saturday, with regular gasoline forecast to increase by three cents per litre overnight.

The latest Durham gas prices forecast places regular fuel at approximately 184.9 cents per litre on Saturday, July 25. Premium gasoline is predicted to rise by five cents to 216.9 cents per litre, while diesel could increase by eight cents to 226.9 cents per litre.

The forecast applies to much of the Greater Toronto Area. Separate city forecasts published for Oshawa and Whitby show the same expected prices for all three fuel grades.

Durham Gas Prices Expected to Climb Overnight

Regular gasoline in Oshawa and Whitby was forecast at 181.9 cents per litre on Friday before rising to 184.9 cents Saturday.

Premium fuel was listed at 211.9 cents Friday and is expected to reach 216.9 cents Saturday. Diesel is projected to move from 218.9 cents to 226.9 cents per litre, representing the largest anticipated overnight increase.

The forecast also shows that regular gasoline had already increased by two cents on Thursday. Diesel rose another cent Friday before the larger Saturday increase was projected.

Drivers in Pickering and Ajax may see similar changes because both communities are part of the GTA fuel-pricing area. However, prices can vary among stations, and the available city pages did not provide separate July 25 predictions for those two municipalities when checked.

Forecast Is Not a Guaranteed Retail Price

The numbers come from Canadians for Affordable Energy, which publishes daily fuel-price predictions based on energy-market analysis.

The organization describes the figures as forecasts rather than official regulated prices. Ontario gasoline retailers set their own pump prices, meaning some Durham stations may change earlier, later or by a different amount.

Motorists should check the displayed price before beginning to fuel. Prices shown on roadside signs may also change before all pumps at a station have been updated.

The Ontario government separately publishes provincial motor-fuel price information, but its figures are averages and may not match the price at an individual Durham station.

Oshawa and Whitby Prices Up Sharply Over 30 Days

The Oshawa and Whitby forecast pages show regular gasoline increasing by approximately 27 cents per litre over the previous 30 days.

The reported 30-day range extended from a low of 157.9 cents to a forecast high of 184.9 cents per litre.

That means residents planning weekend travel, boating, recreational trips or longer commutes could face noticeably higher fuel costs than they did earlier in July.

Diesel users may experience the largest immediate impact. The forecast increase of eight cents per litre affects motorists with diesel vehicles as well as businesses operating delivery vans, service vehicles and commercial fleets.

Drivers Should Compare Nearby Stations

Pump prices can differ even between nearby intersections. Drivers may be able to reduce costs by comparing stations along their normal route rather than making a long special trip that consumes additional fuel.

Motorists should also avoid unsafe stops, abrupt lane changes or using a phone while driving to search for lower prices.

The Durham gas prices forecast is time-sensitive and should be updated if Saturday’s expected increase changes or if a new forecast is issued.

As of the latest prediction, regular gasoline was expected to reach 184.9 cents per litre in Oshawa, Whitby and much of the GTA on Saturday, with even larger overnight increases forecast for premium gasoline and diesel.
