Durham climate programs are the focus of a new regional information feature directing residents and businesses to existing help with building efficiency and weather readiness.
The Region’s October 20 update says buildings account for about one-third of local greenhouse-gas emissions. It points homeowners to Durham Greener Homes and organizations to Durham Greener Buildings for information about improvements and building performance.
Existing services, not a new funding offer
The feature discusses reducing energy use, improving comfort and preparing properties for more disruptive weather. It also links to the Durham Community Climate Adaptation Plan.
The update does not announce a new grant amount, application deadline or eligibility expansion. Residents should consult the linked official programs for current requirements before planning work.
Municipal buildings illustrate the approach
The Region highlights Whitby’s Fieldgate Sports Complex and Pickering’s Dorsay Community & Heritage Centre as examples of sustainability in community infrastructure. These are examples in the feature, not newly announced construction projects.
The Durham climate programs information is available through the regional article below, including links to the homeowner and organizational resources.
