Clarington families can sign up for the library’s 12 Days of Reading on Friday, November 6, when registration opens at 10 a.m.
Clarington Library, Museums & Archives announced the holiday borrowing programme on November 3. It gives families a bundle of 12 individually wrapped children’s books to open and read together, one at a time.
A library card is required
Participants need a CLMA library card in good standing. The library asks households to register for only one kit per family so that more families can take part.
Library staff select the books. Bundles will include a general mix of board books, easy readers and picture books, with holiday, winter and other children’s stories. The announcement does not offer individually customized selections.
Pickup begins in late November
People who register will be notified when their packs are ready to borrow in late November. The pickup deadline is Friday, December 11.
Any bundles left uncollected after that date may be offered to families on the waiting list. Registration therefore does not remove the need to collect a pack before the deadline.
The wrapped books remain library loans rather than gifts. All books in a bundle are due three weeks after the pickup date, according to the official notice.
Families interested in the 12 Days of Reading can use the library’s programme notice below to check registration information and borrowing requirements before signing up.
