Bowmanville Community Safety Day will bring first responders, emergency vehicles and family activities to the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex on Sunday, September 20.
Durham Regional Police East Division and community partners are hosting the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the complex in Bowmanville.
Meet first responders and explore vehicles
Organizers say visitors can meet first responders, look inside emergency vehicles and take part in family-oriented activities. Community safety days are intended to make local emergency services more familiar and provide practical public-safety information in an informal setting.
The event is separate from similar community safety days held in Brooklin and Port Perry earlier this year. This date and venue serve residents in Bowmanville and surrounding east Durham communities.
Food donations requested
Police are asking attendees to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Cram-A-Cruiser initiative. Collected items will support local food banks.
Anyone donating should check expiry dates and bring sealed items suitable for food-bank distribution. The public should follow event signage and staff directions around emergency vehicles and demonstration areas.
