Beer Store closures in Ontario continue as another retail location has permanently shut its doors, this time in Oshawa.
The Beer Store confirmed that its location at 150 Midtown Drive closed on Sunday, marking the fourth closure in January amid ongoing changes to Ontario’s alcohol retail marketplace.
The province’s expanded marketplace now allows beer, wine, and other alcoholic beverages to be sold at a wider range of outlets, including convenience stores. As a result, The Beer Store says it is adjusting its operations to remain competitive.
“The Beer Store is evolving operations to meet the changing needs of a modernized retail market,” said Ozzie Ahmed, vice president of retail at The Beer Store. “Unfortunately, this includes making the difficult decision to close retail locations.”
Ahmed acknowledged the impact on customers, recyclers, and employees, noting the closures are challenging for those affected.
Earlier this month, three other Beer Store locations closed on January 11, including stores in:

The company has not indicated whether additional closures are planned in the coming weeks.
