A guest speaker from the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region will lead the session, sharing expert insights about dementia, brain health, and support services available in the community. The presentation aims to provide practical knowledge that can help individuals better understand the condition and the importance of early awareness.

Dementia is a broad term used to describe a group of symptoms affecting memory, thinking, and social abilities that interfere with daily life. Organizations like the Alzheimer Society of Durham Region work closely with communities to raise awareness, provide support for caregivers, and connect families with helpful resources.

The Brain Health & Dementia Awareness session in Ajax will also introduce attendees to community programs and support networks available throughout Durham Region, helping individuals and families navigate services related to brain health and dementia care.

Organizers say the event is part of a broader wellness initiative designed to encourage open conversations about mental and cognitive health while reducing stigma surrounding dementia-related conditions.

Educational sessions like this play an important role in helping communities become more informed about prevention, early detection, and the available support systems for those living with dementia.

Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about additional programs that may assist them or their loved ones.

Registration is required for the session, and interested participants are encouraged to sign up in advance through the official registration form.

For additional information about the event, residents can contact Rafiah Shaikh by email at rshaikh@cdcd.org or by phone at 289-255-1380 or 905-686-2661 ext. 232.

The Brain Health & Dementia Awareness event in Ajax highlights the importance of community education and support in promoting healthier lives and stronger communities across Durham Region.
