Toys “R” Us Ontario Store Closures, the iconic retail chain, is slated to close more locations in Ontario, including stores in Newmarket and St. Catharines.
At least two Ontario Toys “R” Us locations will shut down, with the Upper Canada Mall store in Newmarket scheduled to close by March 31. Additionally, the Niagara Pen Centre location in St. Catharines will likely close, pending court approval. The closures are part of the company’s strategy to shut down a subset of underperforming stores.
Toys “R” Us currently has 22 stores left in Canada. Other Ontario closures include locations in Oakville, Burlington, Mississauga, Thornhill, Sudbury, and Stoney Creek, which closed in 2025. The company entered creditor protection in early February 2026, citing rising inflation, labor costs, and the growth of e-commerce as reasons behind the closures.
