An Uxbridge road closure due to ice has forced police to shut down a busy stretch of roadway in north Durham following dangerous winter driving conditions.
Snow and ice created significant traffic problems Wednesday evening on Highway 115 near Highway 35, where vehicles became stuck and were unable to climb a hill, resulting in long traffic delays.
The following morning, the weather-related issues extended further across the region. Durham Regional Police closed Highway 47 from Goodwood Road to Uxbridge due to icy road conditions that made travel unsafe.
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes until conditions improve. Drivers are also reminded to adjust their travel plans and exercise caution when driving during winter weather events.
