Melanie Stewart, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Durham and Northumberland, said the funding will help address a critical gap in services. The organization will now be able to offer group programming for youth aged 6–10 who are currently on a waitlist, providing positive mentorship to up to 45 children.

Liza Arnason, Founder and Chair of the ASE Community Foundation, expressed gratitude for the province’s support, particularly in programs focused on Black neurodivergent youth.

The funding demonstrates Ontario’s ongoing commitment to strengthen local non-profits and help communities thrive.
