A driver has been charged after a serious single-vehicle collision involving a dune buggy in Clarington.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at approximately 9:25 p.m., when officers from the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) East Division responded to a crash near Clarington Concession Road 10 and Bowmanville Avenue.
Police say two adult men were travelling in a dune buggy on a dirt trail when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to roll over. Both occupants were initially taken to local hospitals before being airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre in serious, life-threatening condition. Authorities have since confirmed that both individuals are now in stable condition.
The driver, Logan Renton, 39, of Scugog, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm and Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm – Exceed. He was later released on an undertaking.
Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and continue to investigate the crash. Police believe speed may have been a contributing factor.
