St. Mary SHSM students explored transportation career pathways during a November 5 visit to the Porsche Experience Centre, according to a new Durham Catholic District School Board report.
The students, from St. Mary Catholic Secondary School’s Transportation Specialist High Skills Major programme, took part in simulation-lab activities and a hands-on challenge. The board published its account on November 6.
Learning beyond the classroom
The school board says the visit gave students an opportunity to test their skills and gain insight into the transportation industry. Its report identifies a simulation lab, career exploration and a practical challenge as elements of the experience.
The board did not provide the number of students who attended or describe the challenge in detail. It also did not announce a competition result, certification or job placement arising from the trip.
Porsche’s official information places its Canadian experience centre in Pickering and describes driving simulators among the facilities available there. That location agrees with the school board’s full article; the board’s shorter news-index summary refers to Ajax instead.
Where students can find programme information
The DCDSB report directs students who want to learn about SHSM programmes and similar opportunities to their school’s guidance team.
For St. Mary SHSM students, the November visit is a reported school learning activity, rather than an announcement of a new course or a public event. Families seeking enrolment or eligibility details should use the school’s guidance service rather than assume the trip itself establishes programme requirements.
