An Ajax Halloween candy alert has been issued after Durham Regional Police received a report of a wire or similar object inside a piece of candy.
The service identifies the collection area as Rossland Road West and Church Street North in Ajax. Its official social-media notice asks anyone with information, or anyone who finds a suspicious item in Halloween candy, to contact police.
Police seek information
The warning was posted November 4 and was also reported by Daily Durham. Police can be reached at 905-579-1520 for information related to the report.
The available notice does not identify a suspect, establish where a particular piece of candy was handed out, or explain how the object came to be inside it. It does not announce charges or report an injury.
The neighbourhood named by police describes where the candy was collected. It should not be treated as evidence against any individual household or person.
Separate from the Oshawa warning
This Ajax Halloween candy report concerns a different location and a wire-like object. The earlier police warning about sewing needles near Ritson Road North and Taunton Road in Oshawa is a separate reported incident.
The two warnings do not establish a connection between the incidents. Residents with relevant information should give it directly to police rather than drawing conclusions from online speculation.
