Whitby November awareness days will recognize heritage, remembrance, children and efforts to prevent gender-based violence, according to a new Town of Whitby notice published October 30.
The town has released its November 2026 list of awareness days and observances. It also directs residents to its online calendar to check whether related virtual or in-person events are planned.
Heritage and remembrance
Albanian Heritage Month and Hindu Heritage Month are both listed for November. Treaties Recognition Week runs from November 2 to 8.
The remembrance period includes Veterans Week from November 5 to 11, National Indigenous Veterans Day on November 8 and Remembrance Day on November 11.
The notice recognizes contributions made by Whitby’s diverse communities and identifies nationally and internationally observed dates and historical events. Listing an observance is not, by itself, an announcement of a town-organized ceremony.
November 20 and action against violence
Two observances fall on November 20: National Child Day and the town’s listed National Transgender Day of Remembrance.
The list also includes the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25. That date begins the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence, which continues to December 10.
Where to find updates
Residents can subscribe to the town’s Awareness Days and Observances page for updates and consult the municipal calendar for individual event arrangements.
The Whitby November awareness days notice links to the town’s diversity, equity and inclusion information, as well as its application process for flag raisings and proclamations. Residents should check the specific event listing before making attendance plans.
