The Ryan Polley recovery fundraiser is seeking community help with rehabilitation and care expenses following a serious motorcycle crash on September 3.
Polley, whose fundraising page lists Oshawa as his location, describes injuries that have limited his mobility and ability to carry out everyday tasks. An October 22 Daily Durham report brought renewed local attention to the appeal.
Appeal focuses on care beyond available coverage
In his own account, Polley says he suffered injuries to his wrists, foot and pelvis. His fundraiser explains that the next stage of recovery involves physiotherapy, occupational therapy, personal assistance, equipment and travel to appointments.
He says some of those costs fall outside, or exceed, his insurance coverage. That account is his description of his circumstances; no independent medical or insurance records have been released as part of this report.
The campaign has a $4,500 goal. The October 22 local report recorded $2,042 from 19 donors. Donation totals can change, so readers should consult the original campaign for the live figure.
Longer recovery follows September crash
Polley launched the campaign on September 28. His appeal describes the transition from hospital treatment towards a period of supported recovery, with regaining independence as a central aim.
The newly reported local appeal is not a police update about the cause of the crash. Neither the campaign nor the accessible local report establishes a collision location, charge or finding of fault, and none is inferred here.
The Ryan Polley recovery fundraiser can be reviewed through the original page, where the organizer sets out the intended uses of donations and provides any updates.
