Durham Your Region videos are giving residents a new way to learn which services regional government provides and how its work connects with everyday life.
The Region announced the interactive series on October 20 during Local Government Week, which runs October 18–24. It links familiar activities such as using tap water, riding transit and putting out waste with the government systems behind them.
Ten modules explain different responsibilities
The official series page lists ten modules. They cover municipal government, the connected community, infrastructure, emergency services, health and inclusion, social services, the economy, sustainability, tax dollars and waste.
Residents can select a module to open the multimedia presentation. The page also offers an alternative format and recommends it for people using a screen reader.
The material is intended to explain responsibilities rather than announce changes to taxes, transit routes, emergency procedures or eligibility for a service.
A learning resource for residents
The Region says the series is designed to help residents understand how regional programs, decision-making and other levels of government fit together. Its announcement includes feedback from a long-serving employee who said the modules taught him more about work beyond his own role.
Durham Your Region videos are available through the official project page below. The launch is a new public-information resource, distinct from the individual programs discussed in it.
