The Port Perry Lumberjacks turned a one-goal deficit into a 5-2 victory over the Georgina Ice on Sunday, October 11, scoring four unanswered goals in the third period.
The comeback was highlighted by the Provincial Junior Hockey League in its Thanksgiving-weekend recap, published October 13.
Third-period turnaround
Port Perry entered the final period trailing 2-1. Four different Lumberjacks then scored as the home team took control of the game and finished three goals ahead.
The result gave Port Perry a successful finish to the weekend after its 5-2 loss in Uxbridge on Friday, October 9. Sunday’s game against Georgina was a separate fixture, with the Lumberjacks responding to a different opponent and a third-period deficit.
Local junior hockey
The win is part of the Lumberjacks’ early-season Provincial Junior Hockey League schedule. For Scugog supporters, the central development was the team’s ability to reverse the score in the closing period rather than protect an earlier lead.
The final score is also corroborated by the league’s GameSheet team listing and the game listing maintained by Elite Prospects.
