The Uxbridge Bruins extended their winning streak to five games with a pair of Thanksgiving-weekend victories, defeating the Port Perry Lumberjacks 5-2 at home on October 9 before shutting out the Scarborough Knights 7-0 on October 11.
The results give Uxbridge momentum heading into another meeting with Scarborough at the Uxbridge Arena and Recreation Centre on Friday, October 16. Game time is 7:45 p.m.
Two wins for Uxbridge
According to the Uxbridge Cosmos, Danny Thomakos collected three goals and three assists across the two weekend games.
Uxbridge established a two-goal lead in the first period against Port Perry. Evan Gilbert and Trent Nobes scored those opening goals, with Thomakos assisting on both.
After Port Perry got on the scoreboard, Uxbridge added goals from Thomakos and Jordan Fitger to take a 4-1 lead. The Lumberjacks reduced the deficit in the third period, but Darin Bain scored into an empty net to complete the Bruins’ 5-2 victory.
The Bruins then kept Scarborough off the scoreboard on Sunday. Uxbridge scored twice in the first period, once in the second and four times in the third. Thomakos and Kyle Butt each contributed two goals and an assist, the Cosmos reported.
Five consecutive victories
The league’s GameSheet statistics listing corroborates the October 9 and October 11 results and the five-game winning streak. That run also includes victories over Scarborough on September 27, Schomberg on October 1 and Little Britain on October 2.
The latest results set up an immediate rematch with the Knights for local fans attending Friday’s home fixture.
After hosting Scarborough, Uxbridge is scheduled to visit Little Britain on Saturday, October 17, with a 7:30 p.m. start.
