The Valleyview Park pathway in Pickering is being replaced during a construction project scheduled to run from Tuesday, September 22, through Friday, October 2.
The City of Pickering said crews will replace the park’s existing asphalt path. The new surface will follow the same footprint as the current route around the baseball diamond and along the connection between Westcreek Drive and Valleyview Drive.
Work follows the existing Valleyview Park route
The project is limited to the pathway replacement described in the city’s public notice. Pickering did not announce a redesign of the baseball diamond, an expansion of the route or changes to the surrounding streets.
The city has not published daily work hours or a detailed schedule for individual sections of the path. It also did not specify whether all parts of the route will be unavailable at the same time. Park users should follow signs and barriers placed by the construction crew and avoid entering active work areas.
The scheduled dates cover nine weekdays and one weekend. As with outdoor construction, the completion timing may depend on site conditions and the progress of the paving work, although the city’s notice did not announce an alternate end date.
What Pickering park users should know
Residents who normally use the asphalt loop around the ball diamond or the connection between Westcreek Drive and Valleyview Drive may need to adjust their route while the work is underway. The city thanked residents for their patience and cooperation during construction.
People planning to visit Valleyview Park before October 2 should check the City of Pickering notice for any updates and obey on-site closure signs. Questions about the work can be directed to Pickering’s Engineering Services Department through the contact information on the official notice. The city’s service disruption line is also listed there.
This is a replacement of an existing park asset, not a new pathway alignment. Once completed, the renewed asphalt surface is expected to remain within the path’s present footprint.
