Park Road lane restrictions are planned in Oshawa from September 21 to 23 while Durham Region inspects a broken watermain.

The restrictions will apply during both daytime and overnight hours on Park Road South near Marland Avenue. The affected section runs from Marland Avenue to approximately 60 metres south of the intersection.

Drivers should expect temporary lane reductions and slower traffic through the work area. Durham Radio News reported that the Region is carrying out the inspection and will try to complete it as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Motorists asked to use caution

People travelling through the area are being asked to watch for pedestrians, cyclists, construction vehicles and work crews. Posted signs and traffic-control directions should be followed throughout the three-day period.

The Region has not announced a full road closure. Access may change temporarily as inspection equipment is moved, however, and commuters should allow additional travel time during busy periods.

Unfavourable weather or unexpected conditions underground could alter the schedule. Residents should check current municipal and regional traffic information before travelling if work appears to continue beyond September 23.

The notice concerns a watermain inspection, not a scheduled interruption to household water service. No broad service outage was included in the published information.

Park Road South is already affected by several major transportation projects in the broader area, making advance route planning particularly useful for regular commuters and nearby businesses.
