A Whitby pharmacy manager has been charged after a teenage employee reported being touched inappropriately multiple times at work, Durham Regional Police say.
Members of Central West Division began investigating on August 11 after receiving a report involving a 16-year-old boy. Police said the youth had been employed at a pharmacy near Taunton Road East and Garden Street in Whitby.
Manager arrested after investigation
Investigators allege the employee was touched inappropriately several times by his manager while working at the pharmacy. Police arrested the suspect without incident on Wednesday, September 16.
A 62-year-old Markham man is charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation. He was released on an undertaking.
The allegations have not been proven in court. Police did not identify the pharmacy in their public release, and no further information about the employee has been published.
Police believe there may be other victims
Durham police said investigators are concerned there could be other victims. Anyone with information about this investigation or a similar incident is asked to contact the service’s Special Victims Unit.
