A free Whitby election forum will give residents and local businesses an opportunity to hear from municipal candidates before voting in October.
The Whitby Chamber of Commerce is hosting the forum on Thursday, September 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Abilities Centre, 1 Jim Flaherty Drive.
Forum offers direct look at local candidates
Organizers say attendees will be able to meet candidates running in the 2026 municipal election, hear their perspectives on community issues and gather information before casting a ballot.
The event is open to everyone at no charge. Residents do not have to be chamber members or business owners to attend.
Municipal councils make decisions affecting local roads, recreation, planning, development, taxes, public facilities and other services. Candidate forums provide a public setting where voters can compare positions and listen to responses on local priorities.
Whitby voting takes place in October
The forum is informational and separate from the Town of Whitby’s election administration. Residents should use the town’s official election information for voter eligibility, identification requirements, voting dates and voting methods.
Event details can change, so people planning to attend should verify the schedule with the Whitby Chamber of Commerce or the Abilities Centre before travelling.
