An Oshawa community garden is combining fresh produce with opportunities for neighbours to learn and connect, according to a November 6, 2026 update from Durham Community Health Centre.
The centre says Oshawa MPP Jennifer French visited on Friday to hear about the results of a year-long Ontario Trillium Foundation Seed grant. Funding received late last year supported the garden’s development and maintenance.
Food and community connections
The project grows produce for people experiencing food insecurity. The centre also describes the garden as a shared space for building skills, working together and reconnecting with nature.
Program support staff member Ashley Ward highlighted the social connections and collaboration that developed alongside the growing work.
This is an update on an existing funded project, not the announcement of a new grant. The centre’s release does not provide a harvest weight, a count of residents served or registration details for future gardening sessions.
